We Invest In People

Our associates are the company’s most valuable resource, and we actively invest in their development to increase abilities, knowledge, and skills, which in turn improves organizational productivity and performance.  We actively communicate and provide growth opportunities through challenges to unleash the associate's hidden potential.

We Are a Merit-Based Organization

We hire, promote, and reward associates based on their skills, performance, and abilities.  We function best when the most qualified individuals are in the right positions, because it leads to higher quality work, increased motivation, and lower turnover.  Our transparent and objective evaluation process ensures an equal opportunity for all associates.

We Value Work-Life Balance

We create a sustainable culture where our associates can thrive both professionally and personally.  We have a practical approach towards remote/hybrid work – if you can get the work done from home, and that allows you to spend more time with your family,  it’s something we endorse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I work?

If you’re assigned to the home office, you’ll be based out of our headquarters in Chatan, although there may be opportunities to work remotely when approved.  If you’re part of the property operations team, you will primarily work out of your assigned property but will have to remain flexible based on customer interaction.  The property operations team will have access to a hot desk at the Chatan headquarter office.

What are the working hours?

If you’re assigned to the home office, official working hours are between 9AM and 6PM, which includes a one-hour lunch break.  However, our work bylaws allow us to be flexible, and when in the best interest of both the associate and the company, we will employ staggered work hours, use of flex time, and remote/hybrid work hours.  Property operations team will be subject to Japan’s irregular labor system, which aligns work hours with the peak days and hours for the hospitality industry.

What is the dress code?

Home office associates are to follow a business-casual dress code, while the property associates will be provided a uniform consisting of traditional Okinawan “Kariyushi” attire.

What tools are supplied by the company?

Home office staff will be provided laptops and peripherals, communication tools including internet access hardware.  All staff will be provided communication software and access through the company’s intranet system and licensed products such as Slack and Zoom, and depending on the role, licenses for specific software will be provided.  All associates will be compensated for mobile phone use through a BYOD (bring your own device) program.

What are the company benefits?

In addition to health insurance and paid vacation days, we are one of the very few companies in Japan that offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a comprehensive program that improves mental health and well-being. Retirement savings plans and stock option programs are currently under consideration.  See below for skill development benefits provided by the company.

How is performance measured and how often will I receive feedback?

We utilize a performance appraisal program where KPI is customized based on the role and use financial metrics, operational efficiency, and non-financial indicators like customer satisfaction and innovation.  The appraisal cycle is 12 months, with a formal mid-term review, but as an organization that values open communication, associates will have ample opportunities to receive feedback.

What training and development opportunities are available?

We encourage continued education in a formal setting, and when in direct relation to the tasks performed at work, we offer tuition subsidies or reimbursements.  Qualified programs include foreign language classes, and business/technical skill development programs.  The company has an annual budget for professional development, and has its own teambuilding and offsite training programs.
